At the October 5, 2026 Arvon Township Board Meeting, the Board approved a moratorium on application receipt, evaluation and approval of requests for data center and/or cryptocurrency mining facilities in the Township. The moratorium is an addition to the current Zoning Ordinance and will become effective November 1, 2026. The moratorium expires in 12 months and allows the Board to renew it if necessary. During the moratorium, the Arvon Township Planning Commission will work on creating a full ordinance section on data centers and cryptocurrency mining facilities to be included in the full Zoning Ordinance.
The draft moratorium can be accessed here.
